Living Sacrifices

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12.1). The command to present your bodies a living sacrifice is within a context in which we are commanded not to be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing our minds (12.2). The Old Testament is filled with instances of believers offering dead sacrifices or making a sacrifice. The New Testament speaks of offering living sacrifices and being a sacrifice for God. This is a daily, moment by moment idea. Our lives must be spent for Christ - even if it that requires that we die for Him. However, I'm convinced that it is much harder to live for Him.
