The Pleasure of God
"Those
who are in the flesh cannot please God" (Rom 8.8). The pleasure of God
is not the pleasure of man. Man searches for that which feels good or
seems right. God is perfect. He looks down from His holy habitation
and all that pleases Him is wrapped up in His will for creation's
redemption. He is not willing that any should perish but that all
should come to repentance. The pleasure of God is summed up in Isaiah
53.10. There we read that it pleased the Father to bruise His Son and
put Him to grief. The sacrifice of the Son's soul as an offering for
sin pleases God and that pleasure shall prosper in the hand of the Son
of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
